Erythorbic acid: Erythorbic acid -isoascorbic acid, D-araboascorbic acid- is a stereoisomer of ascorbic acid -vitamin C-. It is synthesized by a reaction between methyl 2-keto-D-gluconate and sodium methoxide. It can also be synthesized from sucrose or by strains of Penicillium that have been selected for this feature. It is denoted by E number E315, and is widely used as an antioxidant in processed foods.Clinical trials have been conducted to investigate aspects of the nutritional value of erythorbic acid. The laminating grades typically have a melt point of 140-175 F -60 - 80 oC- and needle penetration of 25 or above. Color in both grades can range from brown to white, depending on the degree of processing done at the refinery level. Lanolin: Lanolin -from Latin lāna ‘wool', and oleum ‘oil'-, also called wool wax or wool grease, is a wax secreted by the sebaceous glands of wool-bearing animals. Lanolin used by humans comes from domestic sheep breeds that are raised specifically for their wool. Historically, many pharmacopoeias have referred to lanolin as wool fat -adeps lanae-; however, as lanolin lacks glycerides -glycerol esters-, it is not a true fat.
